Zoo Themed Cake

I had a request for a 2-tier zoo cake.  The customer was planning on adding the zoo animals from the birthday boy's toy collection.  So, I decided to actually do a half of a third tier just to add a few more areas to add animals.  I left a few open flat areas for some elephants, flamingos, and big cats (some of the little guy's favorites).  I went ahead and piped in a couple of his other favorites, alligators and monkeys.  I'm hoping to see a few pictures from my customer after the animals were added.  The bottom tier of this one is raspberry cake with chocolate cream filling, the middle and top tiers are dark chocolate cake with coconut pecan filling.  All frosted with vanilla buttercream with a few chocolate buttercream details.

Easter Basket Cake

This cake was a great opportunity to practice an old skill I haven't tried since I was about 12...  the basket weave.  It turned out pretty good, far from perfect.  But I like this giant Easter egg cake anyways.  :o)  It is a vanilla confetti cake with pistachio-whipped cream filling.  Happy Easter to everyone!

Zebra Cake with Purple Details

A Happy Sweet 16 Cake!  This was another "Zebra Cake" request, but with purple accents this time.  It is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream filling and frosting.  Purple sugar sparkles covering the top.  The zebra print on the cake is an edible Wilton Sugar Sheet. I also made the custom topper.

85th Birthday Cake for Grandma Dee

This three-tier cake was for my Grandma's 85th birthday celebration!  The bottom tier was dark chocolate cake with coconut pecan filling,  the middle tier was a single layer of cinnamon roll cake, and the top tier was cinnamon roll cake with vanilla cream cheese filling.  At the party I added a few fresh flowers to the cake.  It was a great party and always great to see family.
Happy Birthday, Grandma Dee!

This is simply a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream filling for a little girl turning 6! Happy Birthday, Shea!

Wine Themed Birthday Cake

One of my best customers had another cake request for me.  The recipient for this birthday cake enjoys wine, German chocolate cake, and her favorite color is apple green.  SO.... we came up with this.  An apple green, inside-out German Chocolate cake with grapes.  Inside-out German Chocolate could also be called German chocolate with coconut pecan filling.  All is frosted, of course, with my vanilla buttercream.  I also made the topper.  Last I heard, this cake had all 48 candles ablaze on top and the cake itself may have ended up... toasted.  Sounds like a party to me!

Pink Castle Cake with Sparkles

The bottom tier of this castle cake is dark chocolate cake with cream cheese filling.  The top tier is pink cherry cake also filled with cream cheese frosting.  The entire cake is frosted and decorated with vanilla buttercream.  At the party this cake will be topped with a prince and princess doll, per the birthday girl's request. :o)

Cupcakes for a Unicorn Birthday

I made these dark chocolate cupcakes to coordinate with the unicorn party supplies pictured below.  The party hostess created the toppers with a Cricut.  They turned out very cute!  Happy 4th Birthday, Sasha!

Hungry Caterpillar Cake, Banner, and Invitations

Yesterday I had the honor of co-hostessing a baby shower for my sister-in-law, Kora.  She is expecting her first baby next month, and the gender will be a surprise.  She chose the Hungry Caterpillar bed set from Pottery Barn Kids for the nursery, so we decided to use that theme for the baby shower as well.  It was a lot of fun!  The bottom tier of the cake was vanilla with pistachio cream filling.  The top tier was yellow cake with chocolate cream filling.  I also made a banner to match and the invitations to match.  Both shown below.
